Trump’s interest in Greenland goes back to his first term.

“For the purpose of national security and freedom throughout the world. The United States feels that ownership and control of Greenland is essential,” Trump wrote in Social Truth. But it is still part of the Kingdom of Denmark.
Trump’s new interest in Greenland is nothing new. When the president-elect expressed his desire to control the territory during his first term.
In 2019, Trump stated that he wanted to buy Greenland primarily because he was interested in the country’s natural resources and geopolitical relevance. However, his desire sparked a strong reaction from Denmark’s leaders. By Prime Minister Mett Fredericksen said. “Greenland is not for sale.”
“Greenland is not for sale. Greenland is not Denmark. Greenland belongs to Greenland. I really hope that this will not be taken seriously,” Frederiksen said in 2019 during a visit to Greenland.
In response Trump then canceled his meeting with Frederiksen in Denmark. Because of his views on the proposed agreement with Greenland.
The United States has its own space base. It is based at Pituffik Space Base (formerly Thule Air Base) on the northwest coast of Greenland.
Greenland is located in the North Atlantic Ocean and is the world’s largest non-continental island.
